Derek Baker is a Full Professor in Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Middle East Technical University and a Lead Researcher in ODTÜ-GÜNAM’s Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) research division ODAK. He received his BSc in ME from Virginia Tech in 1992, and his MSc and PhD in ME from The University of Texas at Austin in 1996 and 2000, respectively. He has published more than 25 peer reviewed articles in journals indexed in the Scientific Citation Index, and advised or co-advised more than 25 graduate MSc and PhD students. He is currently coordinating the multi-national European Union Horizon Europe (HEU) Project SolarHub, is the Principle Investigator for the HEU CST4ALL and Horizon 2020 (H2020) GeoSmart projects, and is a researcher on the H2020 SFERA-III project. He regularly supports the evaluation of Horizon Europe proposals both as an Independent Expert and as a Rapporteur.
