PVCon 2026 Brings Together the Global Photovoltaics Community in Ankara, Türkiye

The 5th International Conference on Photovoltaic Science and Technologies, PVCon 2026, was held on 29 June–1 July 2026 at the Middle East Technical University Culture and Convention Center in Ankara, Türkiye. Organized by ODTÜ-GÜNAM, PVCon is an international conference dedicated to advancing photovoltaic science, technologies, and ecosystem collaboration.

PVCon 2026, welcomed more than 200 participants, including over 60 international attendees, reflecting the conference’s growing regional and global reach. Participants joined from Türkiye, Asia, Europe, the United States, and Africa, with 130+ participants from Türkiye, 25+ from Asia, 20+ from Europe, 5 from the United States, and 1 from Africa. This diverse participation created a strong setting for scientific exchange, sectoral dialogue, and future-oriented cooperation across the photovoltaic value chain.

PVCon 2026, offered a comprehensive three-day programme combining scientific sessions with strategic discussions on the future of the PV ecosystem. Across 15 scientific sessions, the conference featured more than 40 scientific talks, including invited and oral presentations, alongside over 40 poster presentations. The scientific programme covered a wide range of topics, including advanced silicon technologies, perovskite and tandem solar cells, PV materials and circularity, BIPV and VIPV applications, power electronics, system integration, AgriPV, and social sciences and humanities perspectives in the energy transition.

Beyond the scientific programme, PVCon 2026 featured a specially curated series of panels and workshops designed to address the industrial, societal, policy, and entrepreneurial dimensions of photovoltaics. These dedicated sessions brought together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem stakeholders around key themes such as localized PV supply chains and market outlook, entrepreneurship opportunities in solar energy, inclusive leadership in the energy transition, green transition and energy efficiency in view of COP-31 — the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference — business model development for solar ventures, and AgriPV applications for sustainable dual land use.

The conference also underlined Türkiye’s growing role in photovoltaic research, manufacturing, and international cooperation. Discussions throughout the event pointed to the importance of resilient supply chains, advanced cell and module technologies, stronger academia–industry collaboration, and inclusive approaches to the clean energy transition.

PVCon 2026 was supported by 18 sponsors from Türkiye as well as China- and Europe-linked organizations, reflecting the conference’s expanding international network. The sponsor group included TENMAK, Şişecam, Elin Enerji, Songyu Technology, Smart Güneş Teknolojileri, Phoenixolar, EERA, Nanografi, SALD, SolarVis, ZealweTech, Sciprios, VSIAS, Infotek, Capsunn, Tekno-Tıp, GÜNDER, and IEEE.

As the photovoltaic sector continues to expand globally, PVCon 2026 reaffirmed the value of bringing together scientific knowledge, industrial capacity, policy insight, and entrepreneurial initiative. The conference concluded by emphasizing that accelerating the clean energy transition requires not only technological progress, but also coordinated action across the full PV ecosystem.
